The Stamford Girls Softball League is a non-profit organization whose primary emphasis is on education, skill development, participation for players at all levels of athletic ability, and to ensure the participants have FUN. We believe in Teamwork, Commitment, Dedication, and Preparation.
In 1984, The Babe Ruth league added a new dimension to its program - a Softball Division designed for girls. It was organized because Babe Ruth League recognized a need for softball on the girl's level and a desire for affiliation with an established program.
The Babe Ruth Softball program is above all, by and for youth. It especially tries to make better citizens through proper supervision of regulation competitive softball in addition to promoting mental and physical development. In adopting rules, in establishing standards and in all planning, the primary consideration is the welfare of the participants.

Over the years the league has had many different names, but the purpose has always been the same - to give girls of all ages a place to learn new skills, meet new friends and have fun. From, Miss Softball America in the 70's to GALS in the 80's to Stamford Babe Ruth Softball in the 90's, we have increased awareness around the country.
Stamford Girls Softball is the new name for our league beginning in 2009. We have many different affiliations around the country with other leagues, including, ASA, NSA, USSSA, Pony, USA Athletics & BRS.
